Communicate The Value of Your Benefits Package
Nearly 40% of North American organizations have budgets specifically devoted to benefits communication, and 25% are planning to increase those budgets in 2016. Yet only 19% of employers say that their workers have a high level of understanding about their benefits packages.
The latest Benefits Communication Survey Results from the nonprofit International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) focused on the extent to which employers believe their employees understood key benefit concepts. It found that:
80% of organizations reported benefit plan participants do not open or read communications materials.
49% of participants don’t understand the materials
31% of participants don’t perceive value in their benefits.
Employees can feel overwhelmed by the amount of benefit communications and often times find it difficult to relate these materials to their own situations.
